This policy describes how Buzzy's Spelling Garden (“the app,” package name
com.buzzy.spellbee) handles information. The app is published by
GEM CREATORS (“we,” “us”). We built it for children and families: spelling games,
tracing, stories, and creative play—with a strong focus on working offline and avoiding unnecessary data collection.
Summary
- Gameplay progress, settings, and your own flash cards are stored on your device, not on our servers.
- We do not show third-party ads in the app.
- We do not sell personal information.
- Purchases, and the check that tells the app whether Full Access is active, go through Apple App Store or Google Play and RevenueCat, a purchase service (details below).
- The camera (AR play) and the microphone (voice on custom flash cards) are used only when those features are started. What they capture is never sent to us or to third parties.
- The core learning experience does not require a child account or email sign-in.
Information we collect
On your device (local only). The app saves this information in its storage on your device:
- the nickname and avatar chosen at setup;
- names typed into Play Together (a child’s name and a grown-up’s name);
- learning history for each word: whether it was spelled right, the number of tries and hints, and how long the answer took;
- progress, honey, stickers and rewards, game settings (such as music and sound), and parent dashboard preferences;
- the word lists you choose and the custom Memory Flash cards you add;
- photos saved in the AR Capture Book and voice clips recorded on custom flash cards (see Camera and Microphone below).
We do not receive any of this. It stays in the app’s storage on your device until you remove it (see Data retention).
We do not operate a backend that receives your child’s gameplay, voice, drawings, photos, or spelling answers.
Camera. AR Balloon Pop, AR ABC Book, AR Quiz, AR letter tracing and the ABC Express letter friends (“play with it in your room”) use the device camera, after you allow it. The camera picture is shown and processed on the device and is never sent to us or to anyone else. On the AR camera screen, the camera button saves a photo of the scene (the camera view with Buzzy’s 3D letters) to the AR Capture Book on the device: up to 36 photos, fewer if the app’s storage is full, with the oldest removed first.
Microphone. The microphone is used only when someone taps record on a custom Memory Flash card (a Full Access feature meant for grown-ups), after allowing it. Each clip is up to 4 seconds long, is stored on the device and played back in the app, and is never sent to us or to anyone else. Removing the card deletes its clip.
Purchases and Full Access. When the app is set up for purchases, it checks with Google Play or the Apple App Store, through RevenueCat, whether Full Access is active. It does this when the app opens and when you return to it, including for families who never buy. For this, RevenueCat receives a random app user ID that it creates for the app (not your name or email), basic device and app details (such as the operating system, app version and store country), your IP address, and, if you buy or restore a purchase, the purchase receipt and purchase history. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google, and we never see your full payment card details. RevenueCat also records when its purchase screen is shown or closed, and on Android it may keep its random ID in your Google account’s backup so purchases can be restored after reinstalling. RevenueCat’s privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
Sharing a celebration. After a round, the Share celebration button makes a picture showing the child’s nickname, the game, the stars, some of the words spelled, the score and honey, with a short message that includes the nickname, and opens the device’s share sheet. Nothing is sent unless an app or person is picked there; the picture goes only to that choice, and we do not receive it.
Support email. If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send (such as your email address and message content) so we can help you.
Information we do not collect
- No advertising identifiers for ad targeting
- No behavioral advertising profiles
- No requirement for children to create an online account to play
- No camera images, photos, voice recordings, drawings or tracing sent to us or to third parties
Children's privacy
The app is designed for young learners (typically ages 4–8) with parent or guardian involvement. The information about the child listed above (nickname, avatar, Play Together names, word history, photos and voice clips) is stored on the device, and in your own device backup if backup is on. We do not collect children’s personal information on our servers, we do not show ads, and we do not sell data. Parents can use Grown-ups settings to customize content and review progress on the device, and can delete it all from the device by clearing the app’s data or removing the app. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
How we use information
- Run and improve the app on your device
- Check whether Full Access is active, and honor purchases through the app stores
- Respond to support requests you send us
- Comply with law and app store policies
Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. Apple, Google and RevenueCat process the purchase information described above as our service providers, under their own privacy policies. A celebration picture you share goes only to the app you pick. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Data retention
Local app data, including AR photos and voice clips, remains on your device until you remove it: removing a flash card deletes its clip, and clearing the app’s data or removing the app deletes everything stored on the device. Your device’s own backup, such as Android backup to your Google account or iCloud backup, may include the app’s data and restore it when the app is installed again. That backup belongs to your account, and we cannot see it; you can turn it off or delete it in the device’s backup settings. RevenueCat keeps the app user ID and purchase history for as long as needed to provide purchases, and Apple and Google keep their purchase records under their own policies. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request, unless a longer period is required by law.
Your choices
- Delete local data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage in device settings.
- Turn camera or microphone access off at any time in device settings; the rest of the app still works.
- Manage subscriptions in your Apple or Google account settings.
- Ask us to delete the purchase record RevenueCat holds for your device by emailing gemmyapps@gmail.com.
- Turn off network access: the app is designed to work offline for learning activities.
Security
We use platform safeguards (app sandboxing, encrypted store billing) and keep our collection minimal. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; please supervise device use for young children.
International users
If you use the app outside your home country, local laws may apply. Contact us with questions about your region.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version at this page and update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
